Along U.S. 12 in Detroit

Hello! Unsure if anyone stops by here as it's been ages since my last post. I'm going to try to keep it up on a more regular basis as I have loads of images that are sitting on my desktop. Trying to decide where to focus my posting efforts, here on blogger, tumblr 1, tumblr 2, flickr... Ideally it will all be consolidated all on a website soon.

This post represents a mini inventory of signs and ephemera along U.S. 12 also known as Michigan Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. See more here and the actual photos on my flickr. Explanation to come!

Just a quick update and preview of my springbreak in Rome. I had the opportunity to visit my sister + family in Rome while Jay prepared for his exhibition at The Federica Schiavo Gallery. The generous gallery director lent Jen and Jay their home and guesthouse for the last four months—outrageous huh!

Words can't describe the experience—pictures do a better job. For more textures, signs and roman greatness, check out my flickr.

Oh, and The Red Balloon made it from France to Rome and landed in the Colosseum's basement!

We've been buried again.
74.9 inches of snow this winter = a little crazy & slightly beautiful. I surrender.

k records studio tour

From my archives:
K records!

I just uncovered these photos that I shot while traveling with two friends, back in 98. My friend Barb set up a visit to K records in Olympia which was a incredible! The person working at K—unfortunately, I can't remember the name—graciously gave us a grand tour of the storeroom and the huge upstairs recording studio, which I believe used to be an old dancehall?? The walls were covered with these incredible characters and markings from the 40s. I've scoured the internet today trying to find information—I'm unsure if these artifacts still remain? Hopefully they were't painted over.

I wish my photos were better quality, but you get the picture. a few more on my flickr site.

it is friday!

Summary of a long rattling icy week.

It's something like-15° here and it's time for a sauna.

These images are scanned from one of my all-time favorites Fairburn System: The Fairburn System of Visual References. I occasionally pick them up on ebaby, I'll acquire the whole set someday.

enjoy the start of your weekend!

Documents from travels past. I love the unpredictability of the real print, chemical mixing, waiting…

more blurriness here.

I'm ready for a great roadtrip.

appreciation

-------------------------------------------------------

Hello out there!

I was stalling on this five-hundredth post — planning to create something monumental. To keep things moving, let's make due with the most magnificent magnolia tree EVER, a cobbled sequence of summerfun, AND little a give-away.

To those who peek here — thanks so much for visiting. I'd like to express my gratitude by giving away a handful of posters. Just leave a comment by Friday morning and note which one you'd like > select from the minimini thumbnails 1 – 12. The posters look quite nice in kid and baby rooms as they're high contrast. Size is 28 x 36 inches. I'll draw five names.
again thanks so much for commenting and stopping by!

has anyone entered one of these here r-a-f-f-l-e-s?
