a world without words

I stumbled upon this perfect book by Jasper Morrison a couple weeks back in MCAD's library. A quiet book with great image pairings. i will add this to my wish list...

A couple weeks back, we went to the Walker Art Center's FFS. The programming = AWESOME. There are art activities, films and performances that are great for both kids and adults. rosenlof/lucas did an awesome workshop called Landscape Remix with tracings, transparencies and projection. Their activity got us excited for our art lab that Tim and I are hosting in April.

This makes me almost want to be a teen again.

02.02.10 is groundhogs day

Sample exercises from the letterpress class I'm taking——OH, the possibilities of handset type + handinking!!! I was quite excited to print a few sheets of stationary commemorating groundhog's day and my kiddo's third birthday.

blip

Here in Minnesota it's either glittery white or neon orange. We're in the white stage.

See the blip in the sky? It's 2 people being catapulted into the air. A 'ride' at our famous state fair.

Blog and porkflash!

Awkward and honored! I made it on Poppytalk's ballot for Favourite Handmade Artist's Blog——thanks sweet Jen for the nomination (ahh, is this nepotism and love)?!

simpleshapes

Simple shapes lead to endless possibilities! We've been playing with this pegboard game from Playskool.

Which makes me think of these villages that I built while I was in Estonia number of years ago.

letraset portraits

On the first day of class, I have my students fill out index cards with pertinent course info, and on the reverse side they make typographic portraits using letraset——so that I can recall their names. I made these three, while they eased back in and acclimated themselves with type. Here are some great student examples from last year.
