pieces

Miscellaneous wooden puzzle pieces that were in a 99cent thriftshop bag--the pieces lost their puzzle, but the shapes and pictures create something pretty interesting.

in Cloquet, MN

Found these happy accidents in Cloquet, Minnesota.

Also in Cloquet is the R.W. Lindholm Service Station (1958) derived by Frank Lloyd Wright as part of his Broadacre City project.

dollies.

This matryoshka doll has one of my all-time favorite labels. Plus a glimpse into my mom's studio. For more cupies and cute.

sauna +sea

It was bit sauna like today--which is okay when in a sauna or by the sea. I just ran across my photos from when I was in Malmö Sweden––a couple years back. This sauna adventure was amongst my favorite. I don't think there's anything quite like this in the US.

The sea wood and gulls are from Maine——which i'll be heading to in a couple weeks.

shapes, colors and numbers

Oh Number Experiences! This educational 'game' is filled with shape and color goodness——peagreen, orange and turquoise shapes, spinners, loads of game boards, plus a super intense 60+ page teacher's guide'. Kit A teaches children how to classify, organize, stack, and order—— even Venn diagramming is covered (whoah!). At this point, Hazel and I are letting intuition and play take command; perhaps I'll tackle the instructions at a later date. Thanks Jen for spotting this on our sister thrift excursion. I wonder what Kit B, C, D have to offer?

bundle of sticks

Tim and I have been making cut-paper illustrations that will be found in the new Walker Garden Pack—— it will be available to visitors in the next month. We've been cutting, waxing and I've been designing away for the last couple months and now the project is coming to an end! If you have kiddies and you're in Minneapolis area, you should check it out during your visit to the Walker and/or Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

ah! donuts!

it's true——this modest shoppe does have the world's best cake donut (according to Jen!). You must visit if you're in Grand Marais to mark yourself off the domestic or international visitors board. Lot's of fun and games to be had here.
