"Classroom of the Future" —Issue One

A collaborative "magazine" project from my Editorial Design Class @ MCAD.
Each individual publication + soundtrack investigates/plays/comments on the topic: "Classroom of the Future". All periodicals were packed into this sweet little tote.

Contributors: Stacy Barnes, Alison Brueggemann, Adam Garcia, Maria Horn, Sara Lintner, Ryan Nelson, Maddy Nye, Jonathan Schuster, Meredith Stuart, Jessica Tibiatowski and Carla Zetina-Yglesias.

Unfortunately, there was only one issue...

stickertime > letterpress > muraltime!

it's been a bit of a glum week, but alas i'm on break now. i just pulled out this FUN...I think we're going paint an animal/shape escapade to liven up hazel's room. perhaps over thanksgiving break...!

empty bowls

Powderhorn Empty Bowls was an event that took place yesterday to raise awareness and money to end hunger in the Powderhorn neighborhood. Friends and neighboors were invited to choose a bowl from hundreds donated by local potters. After making a donation, you could then fill your bowl with soup and bread made with ingredients donated by local farmers and wholesalers. It was an honorable event to design for.

found photo album

I purchased these photo pages awhile back at an estate sale in Maine. I can't imagine getting rid of something like this—even if you don't know the people. The photo captions are vague (an occasional "mama", "me' and "family")... Most photos originate in colorado, south dakota and oregon.

birds in mid-wales

A fine bird display found along the the Talyllyn railroad. It was a leisurely afternoon—the historic steam-powered train only goes nine miles an hour and the railway is volunteer-based. I contemplated moving to wales to become an engineer.

BOO BOO from Pollocks Toy Museum

Some of the scary (but still friendly) bits from the museum. This has to be one of my favorite places ever.

artifacts from an abandoned hospital

My students took me to this hospital a couple of blocks from MCAD—it has been dormant for years and still contains patients records, belonging etc ... it was seriously sad and creepy.
