guide books

I am a sucker for reference materials, so these small guide books are amongst my favorites.
If you own some of these, you probably appreciate their usefulness when it comes to identifying a particular species; not to mention the great illustrations, the back covers, the end papers and the sweet compact size. The books shown here were published between 1930-1939 by Whitman Publishin and measure 5.5" X 3.5".

for the white cherrys

Ahhh, The white cherries from Marshall Michigan between the years of 1897–1913 must have been delecttttttable! These first and second place ribbons were awarded by The Calhoun Fair in Marshall Michigan & the Michigan Pomological Society. I love love the typography, the colors and w.cherrys!

[[The Pomological Society fosters the science and practice of fruit growing and variety development.]]

captain usa

This photo is from a couple years back...taken in New Haven—at the time I recall being freaked out by this lively gentleman.

I didn't witness anyone quite this outwardly ostentatious at the caucus I attended last night; there WAS an amazing energy and it was quite satisfying taking part. Go go-OOOOOOO!

on-the-go games

I picked these up a number of years ago on Canal Street—the boxes are quite small, they fit in your back pocket.. I love everything about them… the unintential off-registered printing, color combos, superthin paper stock and illustrations are just perfect-O.

There were hundreds outside of mcad the other evening—perched on trees, flying overhead and making a serious ruckus.

from my mom's studio

there's always so much to explore when I go home for a visit. my sweet mum has a great collection of antique children's goodies in her studio—including woolen slippers and blue leather shoes!
