playing w/ type

-------

Hamilton Wood Type Museum—the destination of six hour roadtrip that I took with my friend, Harmen, about four years ago. The museum was HUGE and VAST and MOUTHWATERING! oh my, punctuation! oh my, huge characters make me batty!

On wednesday nights I attend letterpress II at Minnesota Center for Book Arts. We had a thorough-triple thorough demo tonight——I'm trying to get into the technical end of things, but all I want to do is sift through the drawers, work on my puzzle and mix the ink.

!

Oh sweet awesomeness! These are the kind of toys that fill my mom's and sister's studio.
I've taken a liking to nudie doll with the mis-shapened arm.

We ♥ L.S.F.

I've been carving rubberstamps and making potential kit components, which may become something for my new pals at laughing stalk farmstead. They've got a limited print budget, so rubberstamps seem to be the best option for creating the most variations.

spring break

The ice has officially melted off our nearby lake and all surfaces in our house are quite productive. I've got the next week off!

a couple things

This is one of my favorite calling cards. I can't remember meeting Bernie, but I do fancy his card. I've had it for 15 years.

hope you all aren't disappointed with the menu change!

Laughing Stalk!

I'm currently working on an identity for two amazing farmers who are starting up a CSA. They could be my most-suited dream clients as they specified they really like the idea of talking veggies! Amongst my fun veggie ephemera, I'm quite amused by these patterns ——I especially love the puffy frills around Ms. carrot's thighs.

Elisabeth's illustrations are too good and funny! + + + the shifty-eyed fellas made it into Vogue!

it's been a busy week for everyone here at Minneapolis College of Art and Design > > > reviewing, installing, judging, teaching, celebrating, learning, falling, winning…

image 2: collaboration initiated by Alex Roche and Michael Aberman. I need to post the outcomes from their fruitful project soon.

Hello Tortoise No2!

This fella would be my pick——i particularly like No2's facial details. Thank you Deborah, from Kickcan & Conkers for introducing me to Lambert's work.

speaking of tortoises with personality, do you remember this one that currently lives with my sister.

Dear dear Jimmycat

Poor Jimmy! My trip to the veterinarian to fix her hurt foot didn't go as planned. I had an x-ray taken which showed us that she truly did have a broken leg. Her small bone (radius) had snapped when she jumped off her rocking chair. Her bones looked spongy and were cancerous and couldn't be repaired. I had no clue she was sick——just delicate on her toes, which isn't so uncommon for a kitty of fourteen.
We spent one last night with her, fed her her favorite dish of tomatoes and put her to rest this Saturday. Bear with me, a tribute to my odd and fine kitty will follow. She's been my great companion during my adult life. I miss her so.

poor kitties

This is Jimmy in her younger years. Today she has a hurt (broken?) foot. Going to the vet…

I do hope this kitty is okay! Lee Roy Tschimperle, age 7, won an Award for Outstanding Achievement at the Carver County Fair in 1953.
