I love pickles and I'd love to live in this 16 foot Pickle Barrell! The structure has recently been restored and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. William Donahey—a cartoonist—had the cottage built for his wife to inspire their creative endeavors––it's now a museum.
Going through lake photos. We swam in three of the great lakes (missed out on Erie and Ontarior). Superior is truly the coldest, most sea-like, the clearest, hosts the best rocks. My favorite.
So we start back to school tomorrow. First time in six years that I've taught on a Monday--so I'm in for a true opener. The summer season isn't officially closed and I'm already in mourning.
Lucky us! We found the best cabin in Michigan on Lake Michigan, the sweet cabin sat on a hill aside a stream––we had to cross an bridge to get to it. Balsams Resort was established in 1927 and is perfectly buggy, woody and made to last. The cabin's craftsmanship made me nuts––scalloped edges, stone fireplace, yellow trim, big wood!
